How WhiteBIT Coin works
WhiteBIT is a centralized exchange, which means the company holds customer funds and runs the order books. WBT is the reward and discount layer on top. The more WBT you hold, the higher your tier, which can lower your trading fees and boost certain earn products. These perks are set by WhiteBIT and can change at any time, so the token behaves more like a loyalty program than a share in the company.
WBT is also the native gas token of Whitechain, a blockchain built by the WhiteBIT group, so sending tokens or using apps on that network costs a small fee in WBT. Supply is capped at 400 million coins, and WhiteBIT regularly buys and burns WBT using part of its revenue, publishing each burn with an onchain transaction ID that anyone can check.
Key moments
- 2018WhiteBIT exchange launches.
- 2022WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) launches in August with a capped supply of 400 million.
- 2025WhiteBIT US, a separately operated company, launches a US platform on December 1.

Supply
WBT has a hard cap of 400 million coins, and WhiteBIT says no more can be created. The company burns WBT on a regular schedule using a share of exchange revenue, which gradually reduces total supply. A meaningful share of supply has been held by the company and early private-sale buyers, which concentrates ownership.
Risks to understand
- Single-company dependence: WBT's perks, burns and chain all depend on WhiteBIT staying healthy and willing to keep the program.
- US availability is limited: the main WhiteBIT.com exchange is not the US service; WhiteBIT US is a separate platform whose coin list and state coverage you should check before assuming WBT perks apply.
- Concentrated ownership: a large portion of supply sits with the company and early investors, so their selling or policy decisions can move the market.
- Custodial risk: tokens kept on any exchange are exposed to that exchange's security, solvency and account-freeze decisions.
